Come and work for SBA CIC!

A new opportunity has opened for a community-minded individual to help shape the future of one of Langport’s most vibrant social hubs. The Angel Community Café and Hospitality Training School is seeking a Levels Community Connector — a hands-on role designed to bring people together through good food, conversation, and connection.

The role, offered by SBA Communities CIC, will be based at The Angel Space in Langport and plays a vital part in building partnerships across the Somerset Levels. Working 30 hours per week on a 12-month fixed-term contract, the Community Connector will become the welcoming and trusted face of The Angel — helping it thrive as a café, meeting place, and inclusive community hub.

The role blends community development with café operations. From supporting front-of-house service to coordinating volunteers and promoting the café’s new membership model, the successful candidate will help ensure the venue remains lively, sustainable, and accessible to all.

A key part of the job will be building partnerships with local organisations such as community employment hubs, social prescribers, and health and care providers. The postholder will also help develop a new community phone line to reach residents who are housebound or digitally excluded.

The ideal candidate will be confident, compassionate, and proactive — someone who enjoys connecting people and driving local initiatives. Experience in community development, hospitality, or partnership working will be advantageous, alongside strong communication skills and local knowledge of the Somerset Levels.

SBA Communities CIC emphasises inclusion and encourages applications from people with lived experience, carers, and those returning to work.

Applications close on 7th November 2025.
Interested applicants are invited to send their CV and a one-page cover email explaining their interest in the role to patricia@sbacic.org.
