Funded by NRS (Nuclear Restoration Fund)
CHOMP is a community-based employability and skills programme designed to support 16-24 year olds in Somerset who are unemployed or economically inactive to move closer to work, training, or self-employment.
The programme provides practical, confidence-building support for individuals who may be facing multiple barriers to employment. Through a structured programme of group sessions and one-to-one support, participants are helped to rebuild confidence, develop employability skills, and explore realistic next steps that work for their circumstances.
CHOMP focuses on more than just job outcomes. It supports people to stabilise their situation, understand their strengths, and make informed decisions about employment, training, or self-employment. Support includes CV and cover letter development, interview preparation, confidence and motivation building, goal setting, and signposting to appropriate services where additional help is needed.
Funded by NRS, CHOMP plays a vital role in supporting young people who are furthest from the labour market, helping them take meaningful steps towards sustainable employment and long-term independence.
